Kicks go down despite super Captain’s superb work rate

Kicks represented by Captain Ponkic, Ashlic, Cedric, Little Melf, Leonardinho, and Denverio went down 8-4 at the hands of Playboz. The determined Captain Ponkic tried by all means to revive the team’s spirit with his 3 well taken goals and superb stops at the back, the magnificent Ashlic also pulled one through but it was little too late for the Blues to come back as Playboz were well prepared. “All is not lost, Kicks have a chance of going through to the final next Friday” said a clearly disappointed Little Melf. Deverio promised fans will see a different Kicks team in the semifinal against aggressive Zanapark: “Zanapark are strong contenders, but next Friday will be the time for us to show what we really made off”. Cedric supported Denverio by five words “We will have our vengeance”

Kicks’ Ashlic leaves Zanapark in ashes

The Blues were represented by Captain Ponkic, Ashlic, Little Melf, Leonardinho, and the returning Denverio when they beat Indians from Zanapark 10-4. Kicks had to fight back from a 2-0 down all thanks to undying fighting spirit of Ashlic and the workaholic Captain Ponkic who motivated the team to do wonders. It was Denvrio’s first game of the season but his work rate in the middle of the park disputed that. Leonardinho and Little Melf had to give each other chances in the poles and stopped a number of goals from going in. Ashlic was unleashed towards the end of the second half to score most of Kicks’ goals and played assisting role in all other goals.

Kicks represented by Captain Ponkic, Ashlic, McDinovic, Leonardinho, Rubinho, and Little Melf dramatically came back from 6-1 down to beat PlayBoyz 13-8. The score was 6-1 when Captain Ponkic and Little Melf decided that was enough for PlayBoyz. Both players did exceptionally well at the back to prevent PlayBoyz from scoring more goals. Melf and Ponkic efforts uplifted other players who were already showing signs of giving in. King of stylish football Ashlic returned to the line-up and played assisting role in McDinovic’s 7 goal thriller. Leonardinho added more woes to PlayBoz with 3 goals, Ashlic rewarded his superb work rate with 2 goals and Rubinho put a final nail in the coffin with 1 goal. 13-8 was the final score.

A long range effort from workaholic Captain Ponkic forced Downs keeper to block the ball unfortunately falling on Leonardiniho’s right foot who smacked it into the net: 5-4. Downs capitalized on a mistake at the back to make it 6-4. The sensational Cedric joined McDinovic and Leonardiniho upfront who changed the score to 6-5 with a marvelous goal. Kicks book a place in final

The Blues caused a great panic when they arrived earlier than usual and spent about 30 minutes planning for the crucial ‘Wafa-Wafa’ game against the dribbling wizards SS FC. The game was a used as a deciding factor to decide which team heads straight to the Gold Final to be played this coming Friday 28/08/2009 at 20:10. Many will argue that they expected SS FC to go through considering their previous 10-4 victory over Kicks, little they knew that Kicks had another plan.

SS dominated the first 10 minutes but only managed to score a goal in the 12th minutes. Kicks equalized through a world class McDinovic penalty kick. A counter attack lead by the workaholic Captain Ponkic resulted in a superb strike from a determined Andilo who put Kicks in a 2-1 lead. However SS responded with a dazzling equalizer before half time. Kicks reverted to its initial plan at the 2nd half and caught SS on several counters, including several attempts from Leonardinho, Cedric, McDinovic and Andilo but it was Ashlic who managed to beat SS bright stopper with 2 goals that saw Kicks through to the Final.

KB news congratulate all players that participated in that breath taking game: the likes of Andile [Andilo], Ash [Ashlic], Poki [Ponkic], Cedric, McDonald [McDinovic] and Leonard [Leonardinho]

Vodas scored their 3rd in the 2nd half but Captain Ponkic combined well with Leonardinho who scored Kicks’ 2nd goal to restore the team’s hope. Kicks share spoils with Zana Park

McDinovic put The Blues ahead in 2nd minute following up on a great pass from Sir Little Melf, but the Zana Indians equalized shortly afterwards. Rubinho dribbled past Indian defense and handed the rest of the job to McDinovic who took over from where Rubinho left off by passing the ball through the legs of the last defender before sending the keeper the wrong way, but again Zana equalized.

In the 2nd half Captain Ponkic came with a long range short as always to put Kicks 3-2 up and Zana did the same. Cedric was getting irritated by Zana’s equalizing goals and took 2 men down before finishing his goal in style with a ‘cheep‘, likewise Zana equalized. This time Leonardinho went forward to do the business for Kicks and managed to drive the ball past through keeper’s legs. Just when Kicks thought they were done with Zana, in last few seconds Zana equalized. 5-5 was the final score: McDinovic[2], Ponkic[1], Cedric[1], Leonardinho[1].

Lucasino was there to observe and is more likely to mark his return this week. McDinovic is out for this week due to other commitments. Dumino still nursing injury and not sure if he will recover in time.

Kicks represented by Londinho, Leonardinho, Rubinho, McDinovic, Sir Little Melf found it difficult to plan against a strong team they were meeting for the first time. It was a good game of two halves. Kicks dominated the 1st half and Umlilo won the 2nd half. Kicks goals came from a hat-trick by man of the match Rubinho[3], a brace from Leonardinho[2], and a goal from Mcdinovic[1].

Kicks shock log leaders

The return of midfield genius Denverio and a super charged McDinovic inspired Kicks to a historic victory over log leaders Siyabangena. The Blues were represented by Captain Ponkic, McDinovic, Denverio, Dumino, Leonardinho and young star from development Tomzic when they took on a team that has never lost a single game this season. Siyabangena, the last season’s Gold winners knew they were in for a tough game when they saw Kicks with a pen and paper putting something in writing before the game.

The Blues came up with a winning master plan to which all players adhered to. Kicks fans were delighted to see their side playing a much disciplined style that put them 3 goals ahead in the first half. Irritated by Kicks 3 goals lead, Siyabangena came back very aggressive and even much faster than they were in the first half. But it wasn’t to be for them since Captain Ponkic marshaled his defense so well with the genius Denverio while the deadly combination of Dumino and McDinovic plus Tomzen kept on posing big threats upfront. Siya scored 3 but Kicks scored 2 more to win the game 5-3. Kicks goals came from Captain Ponkic [1], and a double brace from man of the match McDinovic [4].

Kicks go down to SS FC

The Blues were represented by Captain Ponkic, McDinovic, Rubinho, Dumino, Leonardinho and player-coach Sir Little Melf when they were engaged in probably the toughest fair game Kicks has ever played. Leonardinho got a knock on his ankle in the first minute of the game but later recovered and got back into the game. The super fast SS FC scored the first 2 goals and Kicks responded with 2 before half time. But all hell broke loose at the 2nd half when the two sides threw each other with goals in a battle that saw SS FC scoring 8 more goals against only 4 more Kicks goals. With the level of unmatched skill SS FC showed it came as no surprise to see Kicks midfield maestro Rubinho applauding SS FC while competing for the same ball. Even the workaholic Captain Ponkic went out for a break for the first time since the league started. SS FC deservedly won the game 10-6 and the fast paced performance they introduced in the game saw Dumino suffering from hamstring injuries at the end of the game. Kicks goals came from Sir Little Melf [1], Rubinho[1], Leonardinho[1] and McDinovic grabbed a hat-trick [3].

Kicks still proud after Under 23 lose

Comrade Marathon Medalist Captain Ponkic’s side took on a very skillful Under 23 team with only 2 regulars Leonardinho and McDinovic. Captain called in two juniors [under 17] to assist. The juniors played well but had to leave in the middle of the first half and Kicks had to finish the 1st half a man short. In the 2nd half Kicks introduced a 14 year old who had to play the whole of the 2nd half and did well considering his age. The fans were entatained by the 2 sides’ attacking show. It was difficult to predict who was going to win the game as the teams were on neck-to-neck with goals. Without a sub, to ease the preasure Leonardinho and McDinovic gave each other chances at goal keeping department and the comrade runner had to play the whole game without rest. With 1 minute remaining, the score was 9-9 but Under 23s managed to score two to end the game at 11-9. Kicks goals came from Junior[1], Ponkic [2, 1 was a hell of a powerful shot], McDinovic[2] and Leonardinho [4, 1 was a diving header: do they still exist?].

Kicks shock log leaders BMW [14-7]

Was it the previous week’s tongue lashing from Captain Ponkic or was it the return of Cedric “The Entertainer” to the line-up or was it the presence of Coach Sir Little-Melf that led to a superb display from Kicks? Perhaps it was a combination of all three mixed with a determined spirit of the players [Shotino, Rubinho, Leonardinho, Ponkic, McDinovic and Cedric].

Kick’n Boboza thrashed BMW Financials 14 - 7 courtesy of 1 long-range cracking goal from Rubinho, 6 magnificent goals from Leonardinho and 7 knock-out goals from McDinovic. Who can go on about the game without mentioning the man-of-the-match winning performance from the Captain himself Ponkic who defended Kicks wall with his life and a world class performance from Cedric who stopped a penalty and created goal scoring opportunities for his team mates? Which reporter can forget to mention a fans’ favorite show displayed by the youngest player in the league Shotino? “This is the Kick & Boboza we all fell in love with since its first game” said a fan wearing a blue T-shirt printed ‘Kicks Forever’.

Kick n Boboza ship still sinking

Kick n Boboza ship is still sinking and this time it is going down at a shocking speed. The former champions’ ship ridden by Denverio,Leonardinho, Londino, McDinovic, Ponkic and Ru last Friday collided with Zana Park in a 10 goals thriller. Zana won the game 6-4 with Kicks goals coming from Leonardinho [2] and McDinovic [2].

Kicks were scheduled to play the on form Vodacom FC this coming Friday but due to unforeseen circumstances, the game has been moved to next week. These are good and bad news for captain Ponkic’s side. The good news is that the captain is relieved from the stress of finding replacement for his two prolific goal scorers Leonardinho and McDinovic who are out on international duties. The bad news is that Kicks who are yet to taste victory after three outings, will have to play two games in one night next week.

Kicks 3 Siyaba Enterisha 4

Siyaba Enterisha demolishes full Kicks squad in a dramatic fashion.
For the first time in 5 games 7 Kicks players showed up for this encounter [Ponkic, McDinovic, Ru, Alicat, Leonardinho, Denverio and Dumino]. Dumino was forced to watch from the bench since he arrived late. Siya put up an early two goals lead before Ru could reply with a cracker of a goal before halftime. Siya increased the score to 3-1 at the start of the 2nd half with a well taken goal and McDinovic retaliated with 2 excellent strikes to make it 3-3 courtesy of good work rate from workaholic captain Ponkic and the midfield maestro Denverio. Siya scored the 4th, not even the great performance from Alicat could stand on Siya’s way to a historic victory.

Sad News: Mcdinovich out for a week
Good news: Dumino set for a long awaited return

In a game that included all the breath taking moments, spectacular free kicks, heart stopping goals, questionable yellow cards and penalties, 5 Kicks players raised the bar against 6 Zana Park players. As if coming to the game with one man shot was not enough, on two occasions Kicks found themselves a man shot when Mr Ref sent packing one of its key players. With only 3 minutes remaining, Kicks were 3 goals behind when Ru‘s undying good performance took the crowd by surprise. His spectacular performance saw Kick goals matching Zana’s goals in a 12 goal thriller [6-6]. Kicks goals came from Alicat [1], Ponkic[1], McDinovic[2] and Leonardinho [2].

Denverio combined with SmallPred and Little Melf and put Kicks on a 6-5 lead. With less than 2 minutes to go Vodas scored an equalizer and a last seconds wining goal to seal the game. 7-6 final score.
