Kicks destroy Uitenhage

The unstoppable Kicks gave a great performance against one of the strongest side of the league Uitenhage FC. The Uitehage giants send out strong messages through super strikes in the first minute of the game only to be denied by the determined top-goalie Tomasino. Though Uitehage were in control of the first minutes, it was Kicks who found the back of the net first through Leonardiniho who was wrapping up a killer pass from Adam. Uitenage found the equalizer and from there onwards it was goals, goals and more goals by McDinovic with Adam as assist in many of the goals. The midfield-kingpin Ashlic contributed with 2 goals, Captain Ponkic and Melf consolidated their defence and every time the giants found the back door Tomasino put up great saves to ensure a 10-6 win for The Blues.

Hyena gets the Kick

Kicks thrashed Heyenas 14-10 in a high scoring game full of breathtaking skills and extra-ordinary goals. It was a fast paced game where both teams were throwing each other with goals. Talented Stars can’t stand the Kick

Talented Stars started the game against the substitute-less Kicks on fire. The missiles they were firing from all angels earned them 4 quick goals but Captain Ponkic and Leonardinho came up with a killer plan in the second half. The plan involved keeping possession to slow down the ever attacking Stars and catch them on a relaxed mode. Possession was kept which reminded the fans of 44 uninterrupted passes dished out by Sundowns on Chiefs some few seasons ago. The Blues scored 3 superb goals from the brilliantly executed plan however that frustrated the hell out of the Stars who thought they were in against a minor team. Stars could not take the hit and started playing dirty (rough tackles) and lost it entirely when the referee ordered one of their players out. The whole team did not take the referee’s decision too well and chose not to continue with 6 minutes remaining at 4-3 to their advantage. Kicks won on game rules…

Team: Ponkic, Leonardhino, Fisher and Anonymous
Goals: Leonardinho [2], Anonymous [1]
Moment of Brilliance: Kicks’ string of uninterrupted passes that drove Talented Stars mad

Kick n Boboza gets the last laugh against Vutha

In a breathtaking encounter where rough tackles were flying in, red cards produced, heavy words exchanged, and controversial referee decisions, Kicks got the last laugh. The Blues were first to find the back of the net with Adam setting up Player with a killer pass which demanded just a touch to hit the net. Player returned in a solo effort to send Kicks to a 2-0 lead. But Vutha became more aggressive in the attack and got 2 quick goals. Adam restored Kicks lead with a cracking shot. McDinovic who was playing at an unfamiliar role at the back grabbed another one for Kicks. Vutha reduced Kicks lead following an error by Kicks at the back. Ashlic came in and combined well with Adam to put Kicks in a 5-3 lead. Vutha got their fourth but Adam had other ideas when he dribbled past their defense to sent Kicks to a 6-4 lead.

Moments after Vutha scored their fifth Ashlic broke loose to unleash a superb strike to make it 7-5. The drama unfolded following Ash’s celebration when the ref awarded Vutha a controversial free kick which resulted in a goal. Ash inquired about the ref’s decision only to be shown the red card. Instead of the ball been kick started by Kicks following a goal, the ref surprisingly gave it to the Vutha who capitalized on the one man lacking Kicks to get an equalizer. Just when Vutha were in Kick’s half desperately looking for the winner against one man down Kicks, Captain Ponkic carried out a one man mission, dribbling his way up only to be brought down by 2 Vutha defenders close to the goal post. The ref awarded a penalty and McDinovic did the honours. 8 -7 became the final score.

Kicks reach first knock out stage

A 12-4 win over Hyenas sent the bronze winners straight into the first knock-out stages comprising of overall winners from other groups. It will be a tough test for Kicks since they will be the only team to qualify under a protest. The dribbling wizard Ashlic says it will take a miracle for opponents to stop the Blues from their unbeaten rampage …

Kicks suffered a third defeat of the league in the hands of Siyabangena. Kicks who last won a game 3 weeks ago was represented by Captain Ponkic, Aslic, Little Melf, Tomasino, Leonardinho and the returning midfield maestro Lucasino. Adam was also brought in after an agreement with Siya’s captain to use 7 players. Kicks found the back of the net through Lucasino and that goal remained the only goal from Kick’s side. Siyabangena scored 6 and that could have been worse if was not for a man of the match performance by the goalkeeper Tomasino.

Kicks takes on AA without a sub

The Blues took on a full AA squad without a substitute. The crowed gathering in Barbados were amazed to see Ashlic showing off his miraculous skills on the ball while the score was still 0-0. McDinovic even dished out a shibobo. But I guess all those skills was part of the game plan. AA began fell into the panic mode and Captain Fantastic Ponkic capitalized in their fear and opened the scoring from his superb runs with Ashlic. AA realized the Blues had no subs, they switched to long passes and eventually got the equalizer. Ashlic found the back of the net before Leonardinho sent Kicks 3-1 ahead. But AA came back strongly and made it 3-2 before half time.

Leonardinho and McDinovic switched the goalkeeping role and Kicks got a quick 2nd half goal through a superb solo effort from Captain Ponkic who took down all players before sending the goalie the wrong way. Ashlic dished out a killer pass to McDinovic who made it 5-2 with his killer right foot. AA got a goal back to make it 5-3 but Ponkic returned to haunt them with a rare indoor soccer goal, a header which was a follow-up on his saved shot. Ashlic got his second after combining well with McDinovic up front. McDinovic was not to leave with only one goal and went out to get his second. Ashlic was doing what he enjoys most, dribbling when Leonardinho called him to the poles. Leonardinho scored what he thought was the last of 9-3 victory, but AA pulled 1 back in referee’s optional time. 9-4 became the final score and the Captain Ponkic was awarded his well deserved Man of the Match award.

Siyabangena narrowly escape the kick

Siyabangena narrowly escaped a boboza kick from The Blues in a match that could possibly be the game of the season. Siyabangena were in a comfortable 4-1 lead at halftime. The Blues came out with an improved plan that saw them dominating the whole of the 2nd half. Siyabangena could not stand the heat and started playing dirty. They became too physical and delayed every free kick and every restart after every goal Kicks scored. Player Coach Melf got a knock in an off-the-ball incident. Though Kicks were all over Siya with Ashlic excelling as the central midfielder and Ponkic & Melf doing the superb job at the back and Leonardinho & Player as strikers, Siya strikers got several one on one chances with the goalkeeper only to be denied by the on form Tomasino. The Blues scored 4 goals in that half but Siya’s 2 goals was enough for them to walk out 6-5 winners.

Kicks leave Mitek Industries in Ashes

Following a threat to boycott games by number 1 fan Sisa Jack, The Blues put in extra efforts in preparing for their tough encounter against Mitek Industries. Player Coach Little Melf instilled the spirit of team work and cast out the demon of individualism that caused the team to fail in the previous game. It was a tough and fast paced game with no goals in first several minutes but just when fans thought they were in for a draw, Kicks’ very own Ashlic unleashed the flames in him which became impossible for Mitek to handle. The poor Mitek tried hard to fight back but the defense administered by the determined Captain Ponkic, Little Melf and Cedric did not budge. The young Tomasino enjoyed the company of the red hot striker Ashlic up-front while Leonardinho was also playing his part in goalkeeping department with Little Melf. The Blues came out with 10 goals against 3 all thanks to team work and clinical finishes by man of the match Ashlic who scored almost all of the goals.

Kicks off to a good start

The Blues returned to the playing field last Friday (15/01/2009) where they met their old rivals Zanapark FC. Normally a game between the two ends in draws or close score. But this time it was not to be as Kicks brought in 2 young gifted players from development ranks (Tomasino and Shotiano) plus the new red hot signing Fisher. Veterans Ponkic (Captain) and McDinovic provided much needed guidance to the youngsters while Leonardinho was playing along side the new signing. Player-Coach Sir Little Melf was sitting in the coaching box wearing his new BEE shoes, a ‘bling-bling’ watch and a Zebra jacket. The team’s superb work rate resulted in Kicks scoring 11 goals against 5 from Zanapark. Goals: Fisher [7], McDinovic[2], Leonardinho [2]
