Friday the 21st was the night all Division A teams were expected to play 2 games each. Kicks’ fans were shocked to see their team’s line up which consisted of only 5 players to fight all 2 battles. Other teams brought at least 8 players to the battle.
The “Spartans” [as Kicks is labeled lately] included Ponkic, McDinovic, Tshepisto, Denverio and Leonardinho as players, and the injured Dumino as coach.
Fabulous Kicks collided with the great Shooters in the first. Both teams displayed a vast of attacking football with Kicks in the lead of goals through out the game. Kicks’ exceptional goal minder Tshepisto produced good saves. The rock solid Ponkic did the usual outstanding work at the back assisted by Denverio who provided world class passes that resulted in Kicks scoring 10 goals [2 goals by Ponkic and Leonardihno, 8 goals from the man of the night, Kicks’ very own deadly striker McDinovic]. Unfortunately Shooters also scored 10 goals with the equalizer coming in the last 9 seconds. 10-10 was the final score.
Tired looking Kicks took on the fresh looking Super Oops in the second battle. Again both sides produced high quality soccer skills. Kicks managed to score 7 goals [1 from Leonardinho, and 6 from who-else? the man who reminded the crowd of the great Pele, McDinovic]. Just like déjà vu Super Oops scored 7 with 2 equalizers coming in the last 1 minute. 7-7 was the final score.

Kicks off to a good start
Fabulous Kicks spilt out the first ink into the first page of its Chapter 2 of Kick ‘n Boboza: The Journey Continues, when it took on the ambitious Siemens Soccer A team in the first game of the league. In the absence of coach Sir Little Melf, Mr Firewall Thlaku took over the heavy duty to his shoulders and players gave him the same respect they normally give Sir Liitle Melf.
Kicks took the lead through Leonardinho’s strike 3 minutes into play. Siemens fought back with Young Bullet’s goal to make it 1-1. Then the sensational Ru who was on fire that night restored Kicks lead with 2 successive goals to make it 3-1. Again, determined Young Bullet restored his team’s hope with a goal and made it 3-2. Dumino added more woes to Siemens with an outstanding shot to put Kicks in a comfortable 4-2 lead. The Solid-Rock Pokinic crushed Siemens’ hopes with a burning shot to make it 5-2. Siemens made it 5-3 shortly after.
Leonardinho increased Kicks’ lead to 6-3 with a powerful shot before releasing Kicks’ deadly striker McDinovic from the post. The lethal McDinovic scored 3 successive goals courtesy of brilliant passes from the maestro Denverio. 9-3 was the final score. And Kicks got extra two points for dressing-up in a uniform. “On behalf of the team, I like to thank Kicks’ loyal fans led by Mr Ali Cat and Anthony for their support, Kicks is nothing without them” said the happy caretaker coach Mr Thlaku.
Testing Waters
A friendly game was arranged immediately after Kicks’ victory over Siemens. Kicks were put to a tough test against Basebenzi a team that plays in the same league ranks as Kicks. Basebenzi had just won its league opener 1-0 against the very strong B.A.S.C Shooters side. Basebenzi beat Kicks 8-4 after playing almost a goalless first half. Basebenzi seemed to know exactly what they were doing compared to Kicks. Kicks struggled to get the ball from Basebenzi in various occasions. Kicks should take that game as a reminder that they are in a very tough league.

And Let the Games begin
Fabulous Kick n Boboza who beat the skillful Super Ooops 8-7 last Friday are set to meet the brothers of one of its previous Division’s toughest opponents Siemens Soccer A tomorrow Friday the 14/11 at 19:00 for the opening game of the league. Kicks the Division B winners, were promoted to Division A, the toughest division that comprises the B.A.S.C.Shooters, Super Ooops, Famous Brands FC , and Siemens Soccer A.
“Obviously we will take on this game with a different approach. We know it is important to win an opening game since we don’t know what lies ahead” said the respected Kicks’ Coach Sir Little Melf. McDinovic the man that scored most of the goals in last week’s assessment game against Super Ooops said he is looking forward to the opener: “Look, we proved we are worthy to play in this League last week, those who are skeptical should come and watch us tomorrow”. On the other side Siemens Soccer A team’s captain said tomorrow’s game is a must win for them especially for the newly promoted youngster Young Bullet who is still bitter at Kicks for destroying their dreams of winning gold last season.

And the Gold winners are...
Kick ‘n Boboza conquers the Anoche [the Last Night]
Friday the 31st was the last night of the league something the Spanish call the Anoche. KB News tells us how it went:
Kicks looking for a place in the Final
Kicks took on the tough Siemens team in one semifinal while the powerful Car Boutiques were battling it out with the AA team in the other semis. Like Kicks coach Sir Little Melf said, Kicks were there to finish Chapter 1 of the sensational Kick ‘n Boboza book. The two teams made their intentions of booking a place in the finals clear by closing down each other for quite sometime. When it looked like neither of the teams was going to score, it was Kicks who broke the goal drought after about 4 minutes of game time through Ru. After the first goal, the two sides started throwing each other with goals, but it was Kicks that came out victorious in that awesome fight.
Kicks beat Siemens 13-7 with all Kicks players finding the back of the net, something that has never happened before since the inauguration of the team. The sensational midfield Ru grabbed 2 goals, the magical midfield Denverio also got 2, the intellectual Little Melf scored 2, the solid-rock defender Ponkinic got 1, Leonardinho scored 3, and the deadly McDinovic scored a whipping 4 goals.

Kicks in battle for Gold
The crowd gathered at the Gabba ground to witness the game of all times [the collision of the giants] when Kicks went head-to-head with the mighty Car Boutiques in the Final. The battle for gold began when Coach Little Melf brought in Kicks’ magnificent goal-keeper Tshepo ‘The Firewall’ in the post to stop Boutiques’ fearsome shots. Tshepo did exceptionally well to prevent countless Boutiques’ shot from going through. It was McDinovic who put Kicks in the lead after 2 minutes of play. McDinovic scored again with a superb long range strike to put Kicks in a satisfying 2-0 lead. But the fuming Boutiques’ reduced the lead a minute later with a strange goal to make it 2-1. Kicks’ Captain Leonardinho restored Kicks’ 2 goal lead with a remarkable goal to make it 3-1.
Boutiques showed why they are regarded as the most feared team by scoring two quick goals to make it 3-3. The tension was getting on the crowd before the coach introduced Dimino in game. Within few minutes, coach’s move paid-off when Dumino connecting well with Denverio mesmerized Boutiques’ defense. Dumino scored a breathtaking goal to put Kicks back in the lead 4-3 before the break. The ladies started singing Kicks anthem again.
Boutiques tried on several occasions to come back but could not break Kicks wall administered by Ponkinic. But Boutiques did not stop trying until they scored an equalizer minutes later. 4-4 was the score before the deadly McDinovic restored Kicks’ lead with a brilliant shot to make it 5-4. Captain Leonardinho came back into play with a long range shot to make it 6-4. Boutiques got another goal back and made it 6-5, but that did not stop the undying Kicks’ fans from singing.
Boutiques were fighting with all they had for an equalizer. They came very strong on Kicks who looked like they were about to give in. The ball was frequently played at Kicks’ half when the tired looking captain Leonardinho [motivated by the singing fans] broke away from the defense and went on to kill Boutiques’ hopes of coming back with another superb goal to make it 7-5. Kicks were relieved by the fans when they started counting down with the clock…”5-4-3-2-1… And GOLD goes to Kick ‘n Boboza…”
“Are we the champs?” asked one fan after seeing the league’s management presenting Gold medals to Kick ‘n Boboza.
Another fan answered: “Yes, it is official, Kicks are the Champions…”
